An additional part of our Habitat Stewardship program is the ongoing management of protected lands to ensure that habitat remains in a suitable condition for the targeted species. As such, MHHC employs controlled burns, grazing and brush mowing to control invasive species and replicate natural disturbance.

These efforts play an especially important role when trying to preserve native grassland stands, because they control the incursion of Trembling Aspen and shrubs that would otherwise have been handled naturally by lightning fires and wildlife grazing.
